Hi.

Thanks for checking out my site!

A New Chapter

A New Chapter

A few weeks ago, I was let go from over 16 years of employment in the church world, 95% of that at Community Church of Joy, which was turned over to Dream City Church earlier this year. I had already felt a stirring in me to explore other avenues—alongside my freelance work— but God had me securely planted where I was, and it was important to know I had a steady income and medical benefits for my family.

So when I was released from Dream City, I knew another chapter was about to begin for me and our family. After seriously considering a move to Austin, Texas, God had us change course and look West. Sevannah has a passion to pursue television acting, and she got to participate in a four-day acting workshop in Burbank at the end of June. She learned how to audition, how to deliver a monologue and cold read, and got to meet some big agents and casting directors in the industry. She even got professional head shots—I'm so proud of how confident she is becoming! Ashlin also has the acting bug, so we'll see what happens with her too.

So after meeting with a few potential managers and agents on our vacation this past month, we realized in order for Sevannah to have a Hollywood agent and get real opportunities, she needs to be close to where it all happens. It didn't take much nudging for us to decide to move to California! So as I type this, our house in Peoria is on the market, and we are going through the house room by room and packing and getting rid of stuff we don't need. (We have some furniture for sale if you're interested, by the way.)

In just a couple weeks, we'll call Tustin, California home. We'll be just minutes away from the beach, Disneyland, Shawn-Marie's parents, and an hour or so (depending on traffic) from Downtown L.A.

I'll be expanding my freelance business and putting feelers out for work in the Santa Ana/Irvine area. We're excited to see where this next chapter of our lives will take us!
